Origin/meaning: The arms show the bust of St. James, patron saint of Brunsbüttel, who was already shown in the seal of the local parish in 1316. The five plough irons are a symbol for the five municipalities in the Landgemeinde and also symbolise the development of the area from the marshy area. To the Kirchspielslandgemeinde Brunsbüttel the following municipalities belonged :
