Origin/meaning: The owl in the first quarter is a canting symbol of the Goddess Athene and thus a canting symbol for the name Athenstedt. The beech leaves are a symbol for the forests in the municipality, whereas the garb stands for agriculture. The colours are those of the Halberstadt diocese and principality, to which the village belonged until 1815. Literature : -
