Danmarks Kommunevåbener Danish Civic Heraldry SORØ Region : Sjælland Amt (until 2007) : Vestsjælland (until 1970 Holbæk, Sorø) Additions : 1970 Alsted-Fjenneslev, Bromme, Lynge, Pedersborg, Slaglille-Bjernede, Vester Broby; 2007 Dianalund (1970 Niløse, Ruds Vedby, Tersløse-Skellebjerg), Stenlille (1970 Flinterup, Munke Bjergby, Stenmagle) Origin/meaning: The arms were registered in 1903, 1991 and again on March 27, 2007. The arms are based on the seal of the Søro monastery from 1468. After the reformation the village continued to use the old seal, which eventually became the arms of the city. The arms as shown in the Kaffe Hag album from the 1930s. The arms as shown on a cigarette card from 1926 Literature : Achen, 1982
