SKJERNRegion : Midtjylland
Origin/meaning: Skjern is placed close to the delta of and gives name to the second largest
river i Denmark: Skjern Aa. This is symbolized by the silvery waving line in the middle. The silver color is derived from the original meaning of the name Skjern which is a derivation from an old Danish word "skær" - meaning something thats pure, clean etc.
Skjern was until a little decade ago one of the most religious places in Denmark and was known for having meeting houses for 4 different protestant communities. The cross in the end of the key refers to this. The star in the bottom is a reminisecnce of the fact that the village of Boelling nearby Skjern was a court site around 500 years ago. The star -probably a symbol for the spiked mace used by the officers of the court- is known form the court´s seal since 1584. Literature : Achen, 1982; background provided by Poul J. Borup
