SLUNJ
Origin/meaning:
The coat of arms is Gules, a Semi Lion rampant Or langued and armed of the field holding a sword Argent hilt and pommel of the second, issuant from a Water-mill Wheel of the third. The shield is bordered Or, and set between an oak and a lime branches Or both fructed, and below all a ribbon of the same, background Gules, bearing the name of the city Sable.
Water mills are characteristic item on many waterfalls on the four rivers on which Slunj is lying: Slunjcica, Korana, Mrednica and Glina.
