SLAVONSKI BROD
Origin/meaning:
Slavonski Brod (until 1934 known as Brod na Savi) was granted arms in the late 18th or early 19th century, certainly before 1820, which were basically the same as the ones used today. The arms show a heron holding a fish in the beak and a rotulus (scroll) in its leg. The wavy bar is the Sava river. Older images (see below) do not show the scroll or the fish andhave the elements in a different composition.
