Croatian Civic Heraldry

DUBROVNIK-NERETVA COUNTY

Origin/meaning:
The arms include the ancient arms of
Dubrovnik dating from the 11th century. Four white bars now represent three rivers of Dubrovnik region and Neretva river. Neretvan valley is represented with a 'trupica', traditional vessel used by population of Neretvan delta. The arms of the island of Korcula in the third quarter represent the city towers of Korcula, their firmness and strength.
