PINAR DEL RÍO

Origin/meaning :
The first arms for the province were designed in 1917 by request of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes who was the Cuban minister in Washington, for the outside of the Cuban embassy. The first arms of Pinar del Río had two divisions, the first had the western part of the island, showing the territory of Pinar del Río and in the second division there was a river and a pine tree.

In 1927 the movement towards new arms was started and on July 16th, 1928,the above arms were adopted.
