Origin/meaning : The colours chosen are significant. Red suggests the fires that swept the prairies before the advent of civilization. Green represents the luxuriant grass and other vegetation, and gold is the symbol for fields of ripening grain. The base is formed of western red lilies, Saskatchewan's floral emblem.
