Canadian Civic Heraldry PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND Origin/meaning : The new arms were granted on April 26, 2002. The green island with the oaks (and they are oaks, not large potato plants), of course, represents the island itself (not shown to scale, despite what people say about Prince Edward Island being small).
