Province : Newfoundland

Origin/meaning :
Permeating our crest are the colours yellow, red, and blue-green. Yellow
stands for prosperity and glory, red represents love and the warmth of hearth
and home, while blue-green speaks of the sea and sky, divine protection, and
hope.
Providing a framework for the central design, on the left and right you will note the abstract shapes of halved evergreen trees as found everywhere in Kippens. At the base, three rhythmical waves symbolise the landforms, fields and open spaces, and the various bodies of water surrounding our town. In the upper portion of the crest, three bands, denoting completeness, echo the waves and symbolise sunshine (yellow), the sky (blue-green), and sunsets (red) respectively.
The core is filled with a cluster of red shapes representing houses and showing the predominant residential character of Kippens with a wide array of family homes - each with its own identity and features. Underneath this central symbol, a white band depicts Kippens Road (Route 460) which is the lifeline of our community. In close proximity, a bridge signifies the linkage to our neighbours east and west.
Left and right of center, behind the red `residential' shapes, are two rather prominent white structures. The left one represents the characteristic mountain panorama of Kippens which is most impressive when snow-covered while the other shows the limestone cliffs above Romaine's River.
