KELOWNA
Province : British Columbia
Origin/meaning: The wavy base in these arms represents Lake Okanagan, the piles represent the mountains of the area, and the apples represent the orchards of the city. The bear as the dexter supporter is inspired by the name of the town (which is a corruption of a native word for grizzly bear), and the sea-horse represents Ogopogo, the legendary creature which lives in Lake Okanagan. The crest shows an apple tree (again, the orchards), and the motto reads, "Fruitful in Unity" (again, an apple reference).
