GENERAL SALGADO

State : São Paulo

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on October 23, 1978.
The red field and the swords symbolise the battles fought in the region in 1932. During these battles General Júlio Marcondes Salgado, after whom the city was named, died. The fleur-de-lis are the symbol of St. Mary, patron saint of the city.

The shield is flanked by corn and rice, the main crops in the region.

The motto means 'I fought the good fight ?', and is derived from 2 Tim. 4.

Literature : Image and background provided by Lauro Ribeiro Escobar, São Paulo.
