VORSELAAR

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on March 14, 1841 and confirmed on March 12, 1996.

The arms are identical to the arms of the Van de Werve family. In 1734 Marie-Anne, Lady of Vorselaar married Charles-Filip van de Werve. In 1767 he was granted the title of Baron van Vorselaar, in 1768 the title was promoted to Count of Vorselaar. The local council already used in the late 18th century the arms of Van de Werve Van Vorselaar as council arms. In 1841 these arms were officially granted by the new Belgian government.
