Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on November 19, 1936. The complete arms also show two griffins as supporters and a crown. Unfortunately I have no image thereof.
The arms are identical to the arms of the Van Ursel family, oldest Lords of the village, who later were promoted to Dukes of Ursel and who had several other possessions, such as Hallaar, Hingene, Hoboken and Kerkhove.
