RANST
Province : Antwerpen
![]()
Origin/meaning :
Ranst originally belonged to the Estate of Zevenbergen. In 1635 the village became a possession of the Counts of Cruquenbourg of the Fourneau family. The arms are the arms of the latter family (see also Kampenhout). The oldest use of these arms as village arms dates from a document from 1782, on which two arms can be seen, the three crosses of Zevenbergen (now in the Netherlands), and the arms as shown above. Literature : Anonymous : Van evers en heiligen - wapens en vlaggen van de gemeenten in de provincie Antwerpen. Antwerpen, 1998. |
