MEESWIJK
Province : Limburg
Incorporated into : 1976 Maasmechelen
Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on April 19, 1907.
The arms show a grill, the symbol of the local patron saint, St. Lawrence. The colours of the arms are those of the former County of Loos. The village historically was a possession of the St. Lawrence Abbey in Liège, hence the choice of the patron saint. The grill already appeared on the 17th century seal of the local council.
