KASTERLEE
Province : Antwerpen
![]()
Origin/meaning : The arms combine elements for the three former municipalities. The eagle stands for Kasterlee, its meaning, however I don't know. The lower left quarter shows the old arms of Tielen. The upper left quarter shows the arms of the Van de Werve family, who were in the 18th century Lords of Lichtaart (see also Vorselaar).
Literature : Anonymous : Van evers en heiligen - wapens en vlaggen van de gemeenten in de provincie Antwerpen. Antwerpen, 1998. |
