Belgische Gemeentewapens - Armories communales de Belgique Belgian Civic Heraldry BONHEIDEN Province : Antwerpen Additions : 1976 Rijmenam Origin/meaning : The arms were granted on December 13, 1988. The arms replaced the older arms of the municipality, see below. The arms are those of the former municipality of Rijmenam. The arms are identical to the arms of the Cuypers family, Lords of Rijmenam from 1695 until 1795. The arms as above were used since 1762, when Jan Frans Cuypers received the title of Count. Thus the typical crown and the banners were added. The previous arms were granted on October 21, 1958. These arms are those of the Counts of Romrée, Lords of Bonheiden from 1705-1795. Until 1958 the village used the arms below, which were not officially granted. These arms are those of the Lords of Berthout-Boutersem, who ruled the village from 1650-1705.
