BETEKOM
Province : Vlaams-Brabant
Origin/meaning : The arms show a black fleur-de-lys, which is taken from the arms of the city of Aarschot. Betekom was until 1793 part of the Rivieren estate, which was a possession of the city of Aarschot for many centuries. The fleur-de-lys was also used on the local seals known from the late 17th and the 18th century. The supporter is St. Lawrence, patron saint of the village. Literature : Viane-Wouters and Warlop, 2002. |
