APPELTERRE-EICHEM

Province : Oost Vlaanderen
Incorporated into : 1976 Ninove

Origin/meaning :
Appelterre and Eichem belonged to the Wedergraat Baronny, together with Denderwindeke, Neigem and Pollare. The local council used a seal in the 16th century with the arms of the De Goux family, Lords of the manor at the time. Surrounding the shield were images of the patron saints of all the 5 villages. In the arms granted to the municipality only St. Martin (Eichem) and St. Gertrudis (Appelterre) were granted.
