SANTA FÉ
Origin/meaning : Although adopted in 1937, the arms have been in use since the 1820s. The arms show 19 stars, one for each of the districts in the province. The lance and the arrows indicate the victory of the settlers over the native indian population. The weapons are tied with a red ribbon, the colour of the Federalists, a still-strong political tradition in the Province. The laurel leaves and the background are taken from the national arms and flag. Literature : information by Said Gabriel Chaya.
