Wappen von Zell (Zürich)/Arms (crest) of Zell (Zürich)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 4, 1930.

The discussion on the design of the arms for Zell started in 1917, when the town clerk mentioned that the historical symbol for the village was a snail. However, there was no historical evidence, until in the 1920s a image from 1845 was found, where the snail was shown. After some discussion on the colours (silver or gold or both), the arms were finally granted. The meaning of the snail, however, is not known.
