MOTTO: SUUM CUIQUE (To every man his own).
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on 2 October 1966, with a stylized aloe, and changed on 15 September 1972 with a natural aloe.
Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, was founded in 1890 as Winterhoek and renamed in 1920. The arms show the typical Windhoek aloe (Aloe rubrolutea).
