Origin/meaning

Josefstadt was named in honour of the Archduke Joseph, who was then heir apparent, in 1700 (reigned 1705-1711). The arms are canting, showing St. Joseph and the child Jesus.

Josefstadt is now part of the 8th municipal district bearing the same name.
