Origin/meaning

The arms show the local patron saint, St. Martin of Tours.

The two comets are a reference to the astronomical observatory existing in the interwar period on Mount Lubomir, used by astronomers of the Jagiellonian University. In this observatory the two first Polish comets were discovered: in 1925 - the Comet 1953C and in 1936 - the comet Koho-Kozik-Lis.
