German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

WELLEN

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Cuxhaven (until 1977 Wesermünde)
Incorporated into : 1978 Beverstedt

Wappen von Wellen (Beverstedt)

Official blazon

(de)

Origin/meaning

The arms show in the base the Lune river in the municipality. The upper half symbolises the nine prehistoric axe blades that were found in 1858 near the village. These thus indicate the long inhabitation of the area.
