Origin/meaning

Both villages belonged until the 14th century to the Schiffenberg Abbey. In 1323 the Abbey became a possession of the Teutonic Order.

The arms were granted in 1953 and show in the upper half the cross of the Teutonic Order. The lower half shows a music tone, a symbol for the many choirs in the municipality.
