Wasserbu.kreis.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1970.

The lion is taken from the arms of the city of Wasserburg am Inn, and is used since the 13th century. The horse is canting for the Gurren of Haag. A mare is Gurre in the local dialect, and the Gurren dynasty were Lords of Haag from 1200-1556. The district is made up from two historical areas, Wasserburg and Haag.

The lower part shows the fact that the district is on both sides of the Inn river. The colours of the lower part are the Bavarian colours.
