Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 8, 1922 (Hupp mentions May 27 though).
The arms show the arms of Aachen in the first quarter, to symbolise the historical bond to this city. The second quarter shows the arms of the Prussian Rhine Province, to which the city belonged in 1922, the bend also symbolises the Wurmbach that runs through the town. The miner's tools symbolise that there have been mining activities since the 12th century. The cross is the cross of the diocese of Köln, to which the church belonged.
