Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 15, 1975.

The base refers to the high mountains in the municipality. The ducal crown is the symbol for Saint Count Leopold III, the local patron saint. In 1492 the name of the village was Sannd Leopold (St. Leopold), in 1507 it was renamed to St. Leopold iM Stoder and later to Vorderstoder.

Literature : Baumert, H.E. : Oberösterreichische Gemeindewappen, Linz, 1996.
