Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 18, 1951.

The former estate of Voerde, which developed during the last centuries into a proper city, was made up of two areas. The old village of Voerde was a possession of the Lords of Syberg in the 17th century. The upper part of the arms shows the wheel of the arms of the Lords of Syberg. The lower part shows the arms of the counts of Kleve, who owned Götterswickerhamm-Spellen, the other part of the estate of Voerde, which were combined in the 17th century.

The municipality uses only the golden wheel as arms for the city Voerde itself:
