VERBANDSGEMEINDE SÜDEIFEL

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm
Additions : 2014 Verbandsgemeinde Irrel, Verbandsgemeinde Neuerburg

Wappen von Verbandsgemeinde Südeifel

Official blazon

  • (de) Schild schwarz bordiert, in Silber ein blauer Wellenbalken schräglinks, vorn ein dreizinniger roter Turm mit schwarzem Tor, hinten ein rotes Glevenkreuz.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 15, 2016.

The arms have taken the tower from the arms of the former Verbandsgemeinde Neuerburg and the cross from Verbandsgemeinde Irrel. The red and silver colours refer to the Counts of Vianden, who ruled the area until 1264. The wavy bend refers to the many (small) rivers in the area.

The bordure is a typical symbol for a Verbandsgemeinde.
