VELTHEIM

Canton : Zürich
Incorporated into : 1922 Winterthur

Wappen von Veltheim (Winterthur)/Arms (crest) of Veltheim (Winterthur)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show a plough iron and a grape-knife. The oldest use of a seal or arms for Veltheim dates from a manuscript from the 1860s and shows the above composition, which symbolises the importance of agriculture and viticulture in the village. During the early 20th century the village used bit a red as a blue shield. The heraldry commission of the canton suggested the use of the colours from 1860, an advise that was accepted by the council.
