Wappen von Veen (Alpen)/Arms (crest) of Veen (Alpen)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 31, 1962.

The arms are based on the 14th century seal of Veen, which already showed the double-wheeled-plough. The plough also appeared on a later 15th century seal. The golden peat-shovel is taken from a 14th century seal of the hamlet (Bauernschaft) areound Veen, which had its own seal. The silver and red are the colours of the medieval Lords of Veen, whereas red and gold are the colours of the Duchy of Kleve, to which the village historically belonged.
