The eagle is taken from the arms of Make von Lengen, mother of Focko Ukena, one of the most important medieval nobles in the Ostfriesland region. The gate is the Ostertor in Remels, dating from the 14<sup>th</sup> century. The two stars are taken from the chain of the local council of Uplengen from 1520.

In Silber eine blaue Wellenleiste; oben ein rot bewehrter, schwarz gezungter schwarzer Adler, unten zwischen zwei sechszackigen roten Sternen ein schwarz gemauertes rotes Torhaus mit spitzbogigem Eingang, dessen gitterförmige schwarze Flügeltüren nach innen geöffnet sind.
