Wappen von Unkenbach

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 24, 1982.

The name is derived from the Bach der Unken, where the Unken represents a kind of water snake. This is symbolized by the wavy division line (Bach) and the snake. Until 1444 the village was ruled by the counts of Veldenz, and the upper part shows the lion of Veldenz. Since 1444 it belonged to the Pfalz, hence the use of the colours of the Pfalz in the lower part.
