Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Zimbabwe |
UMBOE
Province : Harare
Origin/meaning
The copper crosses on the red field symbolise the copper mining in the area. The strip of ermine and the cross are symbols for the Portuguese Kings and are a reference to the early trading in the area with Europeans. The maize cobs stand for agriculture and the leopard's head, bearing a collar, is symbolic of the wilderness being overcome by civilisation.
