Selected collector's items from Germany:

TONNA

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Gotha
Additions : Burgtonna, Gräfentonna

Wappen von Tonna

Official blazon

(de) In Blau mit goldenen Wellenflanken auf einem Turm mit betagleuchtetem Tor stehend, ein silberner hersehender Löwe mit goldener Krone und Bewehrung.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 31, 1996.

The name Tonna is probably derived from the Celtic Dun- (meaning hilly area) and aha (meaning place near a river). The wavy pale symbolises the river part of the name.
The tower is derived from an old seal of Gräfentonna.
The lion is taken from the arms of the Counts von Gleichen, who originated from the area.
