Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ??

The arms show the checquered field of the Counts of Sponheim and the barred lion of the Rheingrafen (Counts of the Rhine). The base shows a sword and a hammer, which are both derived from the old seal of the village.

In 1956 the arms show below were proposed, showing a anting deep valley (Tief=deep, Thal=valley).
