TÜRNICH
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Rhein-Erft Kreis (until 1975 Bergheim)
Incorporated into : 1975 Kerpen
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially devised in 1938 as there were no old seals or arms known.
The hook ini the small shield is taken from the arms of the Convent in Essen that owned a large part of the municipality since the 10th century until 1803. The lion is the lion of the Dukes of Jülich, who were appointed vassals over Türnich in the 13th century by the Counts of the Pfalz. The waves represent the Erft river. The door is a canting element (Tür=door).
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
