Di rosso, alle quattro lettere d'oro maiuscole SMPE ordinate in banda. Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on September 2, 1410 (?) by Ladislao di Durazzo. The letter S.M.P.E. = Sulmo Mihi Patria Est (Sulmona is my bithplace) in the arms are written by the Roman writer by Ovidius Naso, who was born in Sulmona.
