STJØRDAL

Province : Trøndelag (until 2018 Nord-Trøndelag)
Additions : 1962 Hegra, Lånke, Meråker, Skatval

Arms of Stjørdal

Official blazon

I rødt en liggende gull lindorm.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 25, 1983.

The arms show a dragon, symbol of St. Margareth. The dragon is derived from the old medieval seal of the area, dating from 1344, which showed St. Margareth standing on a slain dragon.
