Official blazon

På blå grunn ein oppveksande gull skipsstamn.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 14, 1984.

The arms show the front of a Viking ship. The ship symbolises the naval battle held near the village in 1184 between King Sverre of Norway and the local Lord Magnus Erlingsson. The latter was killed together with many nobles of the time.
