Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 20, 1988.

The village is named after the Count Schwerin, governor in Aurich in 1802. The diamond in the arms is taken from his personal arms. The star is a symbol for the Goldene Stern inn in the village, which dates from the 18th century. The trefoil symbolises agriculture.
