The arms were officially granted on July 12, 1935.

The black bend is a canting element, Schwarzach comes from Schwarze Ache, or black Ache river. The dragon rising from a crown is taken from the arms of the Lords von Schernberg, who lives on the Schernberg Castle in the municipality for several centuries.

The Benedictan Cross refers to the mission house established in 1736, and later transformed into a hospital.
