Wappen von Scheidegg/Arms (crest) of Scheidegg

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 5, 1956.

The arms show the bear of St. Gallen on the right side. The area belonged for a long time to the large Benedictine Abbey of St. Gallen. The left part shows the images from the old seal of Altenburg. The town belonged to the court of Altenberg until 1806. As there were no known colours for the seal, the colours of Bayern were chosen instead.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
