Official blason
Parti: au 1er d'or à la croix de Lorraine de gueules, au 2e de gueules à l'alérion d'argent.
Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted on March 31, 1913.
The arms first appear in 1610, but shortly thereafter only the arms of Lorraine are being used by the city. On request of the city, the German Emperor Wilhelm II granted the historical arms again in 1913. The arms have not been changed since, but in 1941 the German government wanted to remove the cross of Lorraine, which was used as a symbol of the resistance, but the city refused.
