St-panta.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 13, 1969.

The upper part shows a lion, derived from the Dukes of Bayern (Bavaria), as the townbelonged to Bavaria until 1779. The Bavarian arms showed the Lion of the Pfalz and blue and silver diamonds. These are combined in the lion. The lower part shows miner's tools as a symbol for the mining in the area since 1945.

Literature : Baumert, H.E. : Oberösterreichische Gemeindewappen, Linz, 1996.
