SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA

State : Nuevo León

Arms of San Nicolás de los Garza

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The first quarter of the arms is divided. The label is derived from the arms of the local patron saint St. Nicolás Tolentino. The three silver hearts are taken from the arms of Alférez Pedro de la Garza.
The second quarter shows the lion of the State of Nuevo León, in which the town is situated.
The third quarter shows the Topo Chico mountains and the chapel of St. Nicolás Tolentino
The fourth quarter shows a torch and an atom, both symbolise the presence of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León in the town.
In the centre of the shield is a wheel, symbolising industry.
Above the shield is the motto IN UNUM PROGREDIENTES, or united we progress.
